Why is my deodorant balm leaking oil?Updated 10 months ago
We understand that this may seem alarming, but it is actually very common. What you are experiencing is a natural process called syneresis. This occurs in various products like ketchup, yogurt, and ice cream. It happens when natural ingredients slightly separate over time, especially when exposed to temperature changes, resulting in a small amount of oil appearing. This is normal and does not affect the quality or efficacy of the product.
At AKT, we prioritize using natural ingredients to provide you with the best possible product. While changing the chemistry to prevent syneresis would compromise our natural formulation, there are a few steps you can take to minimize any inconvenience:
- Ensure the cap is tightly screwed on: Always check that the cap is securely fastened after each use to prevent leakage.
- Store in a cool, dry place: Keeping the product at a consistent, moderate temperature can reduce the chances of separation.
Over the past couple of years, we have implemented several measures to reduce the chance of leaks, such as adding a silicone disc to our cap and using stronger tubes. Rest assured, we’re working hard behind the scenes to continually improve and minimise this issue.
